Comeback Kings!

For the second game in a row, Albion's men's side came back from 2-0 down to claim three points this weekend, defeating Eccles 4-3 to pick up their first win at Oakwood Farm this season.

Eccles had scored twice in quick succession, in the 18th and 22nd minutes, to storm into a 2-0 lead, but like last week, Albion heads didn't drop and Kian Parsa got Albion back in it, tapping in after a Tyler O'Neill shot across goal. Eccles restored their two goal advantage in the 33rd minute, heading in from a corner. But to top off an event packed first half, an O'Neill free kick found its way in, leaving the score 3-2 to the away side at half time.

After half time Parsa quickly grabbed his second of the game to level the scores, before a Jordan Naylor header from a corner came close to giving Albion the lead for the first time. But Albion were not to be denied, and from another corner Naylor headed the ball back across goal with Kieran Casey able to head home! 4-3 Albion! One final effort from Eccles saw the striker put through after a ball over the top, but he fired wide, and Albion held on to secure another precious three points.

Next up it's Wilmslow Albion v Hollinwood, Saturday 26th October 2pm at Oakwood Farm.

Albion Women crash out of the cup

Albion Women were outclassed by a strong Nantwich Town side today, exiting the Cheshire FA Women's Cup after a 7-0 defeat. Albion started the match gamely, and both teams had chances in the opening period, but two goals for the home side saw a 2-0 lead at half time. Torrential rain saw the start of the 2nd half delayed, and Albion were caught cold as the home side quickly scored a further 3 goals in 8 minutes to make it 5-0. Some excellent saves from Jada Worthington helped keep the score down, but Albion struggled to handle former Crewe Alexandra striker Amanda Fallon who ended up with 5 goals as Nantwich ran out 7-0 winners, and moved through to round 3.

Albion are currently scheduled to travel to Hindley next week, Sunday 27th October for a 2pm kick off.
